Cauliflower is a versatile vegetable that many enjoy year-round, both as a main dish and a nutritious side. Known for its health benefits, it's packed with fiber and essential vitamins necessary for the body's proper functioning. But not everyone knows how to cook it right. We're here to share a simple method and a tip to eliminate any unpleasant cooking smells.

When picking cauliflower, its appearance is a crucial indicator of freshness. Look for heads without any brown spots and with vibrant, non-wilted leaves.

Preparing the vegetable involves dividing it into florets, which makes cooking faster. Bring a pot of water to a boil with about 2 teaspoons of salt. Adding a pinch of baking soda helps keep the cauliflower white.

Cook the florets in boiling water for approximately 12 minutes until they're ready to enjoy.

Combat the Cooking Smell with Lemon

While cauliflower's taste is widely appreciated, the smell during cooking can be off-putting to some. This odor comes from sulfur compounds released when cooking. A simple solution is to add the juice of a whole lemon to the boiling water, significantly reducing the smell and even enhancing the cauliflower's taste.
