Maserati's electric pursuit: New Quattroporte set for 2025, thrilling Levante SUV update in 2027
Company officials have announced their short-term strategies. The Ghibli, production of which halted in the fourth quarter of 2023, will not be making a comeback anytime soon. According to Automotive News Europe, Maserati's plans for the successor of the Quattroporte model have been disclosed. The vehicle will be fully electric and is set to launch in 2025. Nevertheless, the first buyers could only drive it off the dealership in 2028. The Ghibli model won't have a successor. This indicates that the new Quattroporte will be the only sedan in the lineup in time.

That's not all. In 2027, the latest rendition of the SUV, Levante, will be launched. This new release will be delayed by two years compared to the initial plan, and the vehicle will be wholly electric. ANE reports that production of the current Levante model will halt in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting dwindling customer interest. In 2023, Levante managed to attract only 786 buyers, down significantly from 2172 the previous year. Meanwhile, the Grecale model showed more promising results, swaying 645 buyers in 2023.
Maserati strives to offer an exclusively electric lineup by 2028. In 2023, fully electric versions - christened Folgore, meaning lightning in Italian - were launched for both the GranTurismo and Grecale. An electric GranCabrio is slated to hit the market in the second quarter of 2024, followed by the MC20 and MC20 Cielo models in 2025.
The year 2023 proved fruitful for the Italian automaker. Maserati car sales surged by 22% from 2022, reaching 7888 units. Of these, as many as 77% were Grecale models.
