Marvel star, Sebastian Stan, to portray former President Donald Trump. First photos from the set revealed
Production has begun on a film about ex-US President Donald Trump. Controversially, the role of Trump will be portrayed by Marvel star, Sebastian Stan. The first image from the set of the film, "The Apprentice", has been leaked, and the resemblance between Stan and Trump is uncanny.
An introduction for Trump seems unnecessary. Known for his television personality, and as one of the wealthiest American entrepreneurs, he served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. It is nearly impossible to summarize the many controversies surrounding his term in office.
The film industry has frequently expressed frustration with his democratically decided election, as demonstrated not only through celebrities' statements but also through sharp criticisms woven into film productions. Now, a film wholly focused on Trump's persona is underway.
What do we know about "The Apprentice"?
"The Apprentice", which currently refers to Trump's famous entertainment program, might be retitled as "The Student", according to World of Reel. The film, presently being shot in Toronto, will narrate the story of a young businessman amassing his real estate empire in New York during the 70s and 80s. His association with the notorious lawyer Roy Cohn, who was Trump's official representative and mentor from 1973 to 1985, will also feature prominently.
As quoted by World of Reel, the film's official description describes it as an "exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and fraud. It is a tale of mentor and protégé that reveals the origins of an American dynasty. Filled with extraordinary characters, it exposes the moral and human costs inherent to a culture defined by winners and losers".
The person behind the camera is Ali Abbasi, last year's Palme d'Or winner for Best Actress for "Holy Spider", and the director of two episodes of the major HBO Max hit series "The Last of Us". The film's script is by Gabriel Sherman, who wrote the book "The Loudest Voice in the Room", whose adaptation was the miniseries "The Loudest Voice", starring Russell Crowe, aired in 2019.
Marvel star takes on the role of former President
Page Six just released the first photos and a video from the set of "The Apprentice". Images show 41-year-old Sebastian Stan, transformed into a young American businessman, on the streets of Toronto. In the shared footage, we can see Stan sporting a recognizable blond buzz cut, dressed in a smart suit and long black coat, while casually eating a sandwich and drinking cola from a can.
Besides Sebastian Stan, known largely for his portrayal of the Winter Soldier in the Marvel universe, the film will also feature Jeremy Strong from "Succession" playing Roy Cohn, and Maria Bakalova of "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm" and "Bodies bodies bodies" fame, who will portray Ivana Trump, the Czech model, and the billionaire's first wife.
The premiere of "The Apprentice" is expected to take place in 2024.
