Martha Stewart ranks among the biggest television stars worldwide. Her recipes, home tips, and party decoration ideas have made her an unquestionable authority in lifestyle matters. Fans around the world and Polish television viewers have enjoyed her shows about the art of cooking and gardening work.
Martha Stewart's criminal past
The early years of this American icon's adult life didn't hint at her future fame as a culinary expert. She juggled a modelling career at Chanel with studying architectural history. During this time, she met her future husband, Andrew, with whom she had her only child, Alexis. After a few years, she yielded to the pressure from her husband and his father and started working as a stockbroker, though this was not the career she desired.
In the mid-70s, Stewart and a friend embarked on a catering company venture, based in her home's basement. After their partnership dissolved, Martha bought out her friend's shares. An introduction to the head of a prestigious publishing house during one of her parties landed her the opportunity to publish her debut cookbook. Thus, her remarkable career began.
Martha Stewart refers to the next two decades as a string of unending successes. With numerous bestsellers, her magazine, and a television program running for 11 years, she achieved massive success and won the hearts of the American audience. In 1995, "New York Magazine" described her as "the American of our times".
However, her successful streak was interrupted by a criminal incident. Eighteen years ago, the star received a 5-month imprisonment sentence in a women's prison followed by an equal period of house arrest. Stewart sold 4,000 shares of ImClone , a company developing oncological drugs, just a day before the announcement that the company didn't receive a license to sell a new cancer drug. She might have received news about the impending exchange rate drop from the company's boss, who was involved in large-scale insider trading. Despite presenting a different version of events, Stewart couldn't convince the court and began serving her sentence in October 2004.
A triumphant return for Martha Stewart
Despite a severe image crisis, viewers eagerly welcomed the host back, flocking to watch the premiere episode of her new show, "The Martha Stewart Show" after her sentence. The show's success earned her six nominations for the prestigious Emmy Award but ran its course after seven years. The magazine she had been publishing survived on the newspaper market until 2022.
Keeping up with current trends in journalism, the American television icon has now transitioned into podcasting, releasing her first self-titled podcast last year. So far, her guests have included renowned personalities like Snoop Dogg, Kris Jenner, and Michael Kors. She also recently launched her own line of gummy bears.
Stewart continues to make appearances on the red carpet. She recently showcased her style at the CFDA Awards fashion awards. The 82-year-old media icon donned an elegant black attire designed by American designer Dennis Basso.
The event's attendees marveled at the star's red carpet appearance. Despite her age, the "Queen of lifestyle" continues to impress with her style, radiant complexion, and charming smile.
