Margot Robbie, one of the most celebrated actresses of recent times, continues to make waves with her upcoming projects. The phenomenal success of "Barbie," directed by Greta Gerwig, in which Robbie played the lead role and served as a producer, has firmly established her status in Hollywood. Now, she's set to delve into another iconic pop culture subject—the world of board games.

Robbie's career trajectory appears to be marked by adaptations of phenomena beyond cinema. "Barbie" serves as a prime example. Together with Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote the screenplay, Robbie transformed what could have been seen as a flat, superficial character into a compelling protagonist, turning perceived limitations into strengths. This artistic triumph also translated into huge financial success, with earnings nearing $1.5 billion, placing Robbie among the highest-paid actors in the industry.

Recently, it was reported that Robbie, known for her role in "I, Tonya," directed by Craig Gillespie, is considering an adaptation of "The Sims," a cult video game by Electronic Arts. As one of the most popular life simulation games, "The Sims" holds significant narrative potential. Yet, the details of the screenplay, to be developed by Kate Harron (known for "Sex Education" and "Loki") and Briony Redman (involved in the upcoming "Doctor Who"), remain under wraps, adding an air of mystery to Robbie's latest venture.

What do we know about the "Monopoly" film adaptation so far?

Robbie's production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, has announced its plans to bring the beloved board game "Monopoly" to the silver screen, as Deadline reported. Over the past decade, LuckyChap Entertainment, co-founded by Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr, has prioritized television productions and narratives with strong female leads.

Following this ethos, LuckyChap Entertainment has contributed to several notable projects including "Promising Young Woman" by Emerald Fennell, "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)" by Cathy Yan, and the series "Maid" by Molly Smith Metzler. This commitment indicates that the adaptation of "Monopoly" might also feature a compelling story centered around a female protagonist, potentially with Robbie in a starring role.

Hasbro, the world's second-largest toy manufacturer, known for creating classic games such as "Quija" and "Rummikub," and venturing into film production since 2007, will collaborate on the film. Brian Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, expressed his confidence in LuckyChap Entertainment, praising their passion and sensitivity toward their projects.

The "Barbie" film is now streaming on HBO Max and Player.
