Many drivers are surprised to hear that. This hidden feature is crazy
The days when a car key was a simple tool with a blade that was inserted into the ignition are long behind us. Modern technologies have transformed this unassuming object into an advanced device that offers much more than just the ability to open the car doors without reaching for the remote.
One of the most practical applications of a modern key fob is the ability to open or close all the windows in the car. This function is especially useful on hot days, when we want to quickly cool the interior of the vehicle that has been standing in the sun for a long time. All you need to do is hold down the door open button, and all the windows will go down, allowing the cabin to be aired out. Similarly, holding down the car close button will ensure that all the windows will be tightly closed.
Another useful feature is car location in a parking lot. If you've ever lost your car in a large, crowded parking lot, you would appreciate this option. Depending on the car model, the combination of buttons might vary, but usually, it suffices to hold one of them down for a longer time, and the car will signal its position using the horn.
Some key models also come with an alarm mode. In a dangerous situation, the key can activate the car alarm, attracting the attention of passers-by.
It's also worth mentioning the possibility of disabling the keyless system. This solution is particularly interesting, for example in Mercedes brand cars, it is enough to press the vehicle closure button twice, and the keyless system will be disabled. Thanks to this, the car will not react to an animal running under the bumper, which usually causes the trunk lid to open. It is also an effective protection against thieves, who may try to exploit the imperfections of the keyless system.
Despite all these modern features, car manufacturers do not forget about the traditional key blade. Even in the most advanced key models, there is a hidden blade for opening the car, which can prove to be indispensable, for example when the key battery runs out.
Some brands, such as BMW or Hyundai, also offer the ability to adjust the car using a key. By using an electric motor, we can move the vehicle forward or backward. This function can be useful in crowded parking lots, though in practice it is often seen as an unnecessary addition.
