According to a report in "The Straits Times", local police inspector Vivek Yadav stated that Dharamveer "became enraged when his wife informed him that it would take another 10 minutes to prepare the tea, and attacked her." As a result of the disagreement, Dharamveer retrieved a sword and decapitated Sundari, his 50-year-old wife, who was still involved in making the beverage.

The couple's four children tried to intervene, but Dharamveer allegedly attempted to attack them as well with the sword. Upon hearing the commotion, neighbors rushed to the scene, discovering Sundari lying in a pool of blood.

Directly after the incident, the police were alerted and found a distraught Dharamveer next to his wife's body. He was immediately apprehended, and the woman's body was transported to a hospital for autopsy.

Deputy Police Commissioner Gyan Prakash Rai confirmed the occurrence, elaborating that Dharamveer and Sundari did indeed have a dispute over tea. He explained, during this argument, Dharamveer picked up a sharp object and struck her from behind in the neck area, leading to her instantaneous death.

The couple's son disclosed his father's intense love for tea, having five to six cups of it daily, and the frequent disagreements it caused with his mother due to this addiction. He further recounted that although his father often shouted at his mother, he had never seen him resort to physical violence prior to this incident.
