Make your sink sparkle. Simple, cheap DIY trick revealed to keep the kitchen gleaming

A sink is indispensable in every kitchen. It's usually the place where dirty dishes are kept before they are washed, even if they're bound for the dishwasher. Also, sinks often serve as the rinsing spot for fruits and vegetables. Consequently, it can collect various bits of food particles and frequently experiences deposits from hard water.

You can find a multitude of chemical products targeted at sink cleaning in stores and drugstores. But before you consider these options, it's worthwhile to try this effective and, above all, budget-friendly method.

Try this quick and effective cleaning trick for your sink

Baking soda and citric acid work wonders to combat the stone stains and dirt accumulating on your kitchen sink. Mix a packet of each and sprinkle the moistened sink evenly with this prepared solution.

To enhance its effectiveness, it's advisable to cover the entire sink surface with clear plastic wrap or sandwich bags. This allows the cleaning powder to work more efficiently and faster.

After a few minutes, gently remove the plastic wrap, scrub the sink, and rinse thoroughly with warm water! You're done. Some people recommend applying baby oil to a dry cloth and rubbing it into the sink afterward. Not only does this make your sink shine like new, but it also provides a thin protective layer against new stains for a while.

A DIY method to unclog a sink

One of the issues often encountered in sink cleaning is a clogged drain. In this case, before starting the cleaning process, it's recommended to pour a cup of baking soda into the drain, followed by vinegar, and then cover it with a plate.

After some time, you'll hear distinctive hissing and bubbling sounds, indicating that the baking soda and vinegar are working. After about an hour, rinse everything with lukewarm water, and there you go.
