That's precisely what I'll be focusing on today. You can prepare this as a portion of a birthday gift, dessert after a Valentine's Day dinner, or as a sweet surprise to your significant other just because. A heart-shaped tart with apple filling is perfect for any occasion, and its unforgettable taste will linger. It's just that delectable!

Step by step guide: Making a crumbly tart with an apple-cinnamon filling

Ingredients:

For the dough: 

  • 1.65 lbs all-purpose flour,
  • 10.5 oz cold butter,
  • 8.8 oz sugar,
  • 3 eggs,
  • 3 teaspoons of vanilla sugar,
  • 1 pinch of salt.

For the filling:

  • 4 apples,
  • 3.5 oz of butter,
  • 2.8 oz sugar,
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

For decoration: 

  • powdered sugar,
  • caramel topping.

Steps to prepare:

Step 1. Kickstart the process by preparing the crumbly dough. Add flour, chunks of cold butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt to a mixing bowl.

Step 2. After kneading the dough thoroughly, wrap it in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 3. In the meanwhile, prepare the filling for the tart. Combine butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a heated pan. Once mixed, add peeled and finely chosen apples.

Let the fruit stew for approximately 15 minutes, until the apples soften perfectly.

Step 4. Roll out the crumbly dough into a thin flat sheet, from which you then cut out two heart shapes.

Step 5. Place the first heart on a tray lined with baking paper, spread the sautéed apples on the dough, and cover them securely with the second heart.
