"Blue Beetle" follows the tale of a Mexican teenager who develops superhuman powers via a cosmic beetle. Despite garnering favorable reviews with a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% rating from audiences, the film's success didn't reflect at the box office.

With a budget of $104 million, the film managed to bring in only $129.2 million, leading to significant monetary losses. Among all DC Universe movies, "Blue Beetle" holds the record for the worst commercial performance. It had substantial competition but still could not hold its ground. Other recent releases like "Shazam! Wrath of the Gods" and "Flash," earning $133 million and $270 million respectively, also failed to turn a profit for Warner Bros.

For those who were waiting for "Blue Beetle" to become available on HBO Max, you can now plan your viewing party. The movie will begin streaming on November 17th.

As for the superhero's future, James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are presently constructing a new DC Universe, have yet to rule out the inclusion of the character played by Xolo Mariduena. The scope and extent of his role are yet to be determined, but it is unlikely that he will receive a standalone film.
