What are the goals of the summit in Paris?

Just before the summit in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump. The meeting in France aims to unite countries supporting Ukraine in the peace process.

Heads of state and government from 27 countries are participating in the summit along with leaders of the European Union and NATO institutions, including Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa.

What did Macron say after the conversation with Zelensky?

The day before the summit, Macron spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After the meeting, he stated that Russia is showing its "desire for war" and emphasized that the Kremlin must accept a 30-day ceasefire without preconditions. Macron pointed out that it is too early to talk about lifting sanctions against Russia, but he will not prematurely judge the United States' actions regarding Ukraine.

What are the plans of the "coalition of the willing"?

Macron, alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is one of the more active leaders in peace negotiations regarding Ukraine. In response to declarations of withdrawal of support by Washington, London, and Paris announced the formation of the "coalition of the willing."

These countries will ensure adherence to a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. One of the proposals includes sending troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission.
