Lukashenko denies Zelensky's claim of apology amid tensions
Natalia Eismont, Aleksandr Lukashenko's press secretary, refuted Volodymyr Zelensky's claim that the President of Belarus had apologized to him in the initial days of the Russian invasion.

- The President of Belarus did not apologize to Zelensky for a simple reason: we have nothing to apologize for. Primarily because Ukraine, as we remember, was the first to impose sanctions on Belarus, even before America and the entire West, - said Natalia Eismont, the spokesperson for the self-declared president of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko.
Minsk reacts to Zelensky's statement
Lukashenko's spokesperson denies the words of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who, in an interview with American blogger Lex Friedman, recounted how on the second or third day of the full-scale war, Aleksandr Lukashenko apologized to him for launching missiles from Belarusian territory.
Lukashenko's spokesperson admits that in the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he had a phone conversation with Zelensky, but—as she says—it happened "solely due to the emotional reaction of Lukashenko's youngest son, Nikolai, who had Zelensky's contact on his phone."
According to her, Lukashenko called on the President of Ukraine to come to the negotiating table.
- Both then and now, Lukashenko is convinced that the conflict arose largely because of Zelensky's policies. If he listened less to his Western superiors and focused on the interests of his people, this war could have been avoided, - Eismont said.
