During the holiday season, thieves often seize the opportunity to break into the homes of well-known athletes. This time, their target was the property of Luka Dončić, a Slovenian basketball player with the Dallas Mavericks, reports NBC News. Fortunately, neither Dončić nor his family were harmed, as they were not present during the burglary.

According to Dončić's agent, the thieves managed to steal valuables worth $30,000. Texas team coach Jason Kidd informed reporters that he spoke with Dončić before the game against the Portland Trail Blazers and confirmed that no one in the household was injured in the incident.

In Saturday's game, the Dallas Mavericks lost away to the Portland Trail Blazers, 122-126. Luka Dončić was unable to participate in the match due to a calf injury sustained in Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Slovenian, one of the league's leading scorers, will be sidelined for at least a month.

Dončić currently ranks sixth in the NBA scoring standings, averaging 28.1 points per game. He is also eighth in assists, with an average of 7.8, and third in steals, averaging 2 per game.

The 25-year-old Slovenian basketball player won the European Championship with the Slovenian national team. He has been playing for the Dallas Mavericks for six years. In 2024, he won the MVP of the NBA Western Conference Finals and has appeared five times in the All-Star Game.

This season, his annual earnings are estimated at about $43 million, which amounts to over $800,000 weekly. The basketball player's salary in the 2026-2027 season is set to increase to nearly $49 million. Despite his exceptional performance, Dončić is not the highest-paid player in the NBA and does not rank in the top ten. Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors earns the most, with an annual salary of $55.7 million. Five other players earn over $50 million, including Serbian Nikola Jokić from the Denver Nuggets.
