Ingredients:
- 1 cup of butter,
- 0.42 cups of sugar,
- 0.25 cups of powdered sugar,
- 1 egg,
- 3.31 cups of all-purpose flour,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- red food coloring for dough.
Preparation:
Step 1. Begin by sieving the flour and powdered sugar together. Then add a pinch of salt.
Step 2. Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the sugar. Mix it gently before adding the next ingredient - butter. But make sure you cut it into smaller pieces beforehand.
Step 3. Add an egg to the mixture as you start to form dough. Continue kneading until the dough becomes uniform.
Step 4. Divide the dough into two parts. Add red dye to one half to give it a pinkish hue, while leaving the other half as it is.
Wrap both sections of the dough tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This prevents the dough from drying out and suppresses strong odors from other fridge items.
Step 5. After 30 minutes, take a piece from each dough and roll it to attain a snake-like shape. Both pieces should be the same size.
Step 6. Place both dough strands next to each other and twist them together. After obtaining a solid braid, shape it into a candy cane.
Step 7. Place the shaped cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake them for 11 minutes in a preheated oven set at 356 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 8. Your Santa's Cane Cookies are now ready. Enjoy!
