TMZ reports that before his death, Payne was texting his friend, Roger Nores. At that time, Liam was staying at the CasaSur Hotel, while his good friend was booked into another venue. On the night of October 15, the musician ordered four bottles of whiskey and then another five in the early morning of October 16.

At 7 AM, the musician reportedly texted Nores, suggesting his intention to "hit on chicks." Over two hours later, he contacted him again, this time asking if "he could score 0.2 ounces." Media reports indicate that this was likely referring to cocaine.
