Fourteen Leopard 2A4 tanks that Germany gave to Prague as a replacement for old tanks sent to Ukraine can only be used for training, according to recent reports in Czech media.

The Czech newspaper, "Mlada Fronta DNES," reported on Friday that the Leopard 2A4 tanks Prague received from Germany are only fit for training purposes.

"The Leopard 2 in its 2A4 version takes us back to the mid-'80s. Clearly, it's not suited for the modern battlefield," assessed security expert Milan Mikulecky in the newspaper.

In Mikulecky's view, the Defense Ministry's agreement with Germany greatly limited its negotiation capabilities regarding the acquisition of new tanks, which are urgently needed by the Czech army.

"By accepting this gift, our ministry's political leadership has barred us from exploring other options, particularly negotiating prices in a competitive environment," Mikulecky stated, discussing this issue with "MFD".
