Lego enthusiasts construct full-scale, drivable Volvo V70 model with over 400k bricks
Lego building is a hobby shared by a vast number of people. Some, however, go beyond enjoying their passion quietly at home. A shining example of this is David Gustafsson, a Lego enthusiast from Sweden who won the local edition of the Lego Masters programme in 2020.

Gustafsson and his team from Brickscale spearheaded this exceptional Volvo-associated project. They usually specialize in smaller structures, but they dared to recreate a full-sized model of the Volvo V70 – the same variant Gustafsson himself owns.
The project took more than a year to complete, and not without reason. Besides the car frame and tyres, every component comprises Lego bricks. The detailed construction extends to the seats, dashboard, bodywork, mirrors, knobs, and even the steering wheel. Incredibly enough, the vehicle's headlights correlate with the steering direction!
Surprisingly, this Lego-built Volvo V70 model doesn't just sit pretty. What truly sets this project apart is that it can be driven. The car doesn't merely roll when pushed; it features an electric motor and fully functional brakes. With the aid of over 400,000 Lego bricks, this replica car can genuinely move.
While it's not bold enough to hit public roads, this unique structure isn't just for eyes behind closed doors. Beginning February 22, the Lego Volvo will embark on a tour across Sweden until August 4. So far, enthusiasts have seen this marvel in Volvo's home city, Gothenburg, but its journey is just getting started.
