Lech Wałęsa, born exactly 80 years ago, on September 29, 1943, has been living in Gdańsk, Poland for years. He can often be seen on the streets or walking paths, where he likes to walk with poles. Which district is the home of the former president and today's celebrant located?

Lech Wałęsa's places in Gdańsk

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, Lech Walesa celebrated his 76th birthday. For this occasion, two days earlier, one of the plaques on the "Lech Walesa and Freedom Trail", which are located in Gdansk, was unveiled on the building. They commemorate the places whose history is associated with the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity" and its leader.

On the same building at Pilotów 17, there is also a mural by Piotr Szwabe, depicting a portrait of Lech Wałęsa, painted based on a photo taken during his internment.

Lech Wałęsa has not lived in Zaspa for many years. The former president's house is located in one of the most beautiful and expensive districts of Gdańsk - Oliwa. One could certainly envy him this splendid location.

The spacious villa is still maintained in the style characteristic of the 90s. Above the entrance door there is a characteristic small balcony.

In the Wałęsa house in Oliwa, you could always meet many politicians or artists. The former president often held birthdays there, to which he invited distinguished guests.

Tourists still approach the fence and peek at the property, hoping to see the Nobel laureate in person. The house is also often on the route of coach tours, which come to Gdansk in large numbers. After all, it is located in a district where many other attractions await tourists - including the popular Oliwa Park with its new palm house, and the unique Oliwa Cathedral.

As reported by the residents of Tri-City, it's easier to encounter the former president with walking poles on numerous hiking trails.
