The Brandenburg Gate was defaced by activists from the group Last Generation. They painted the monument. Theolice arrested two individuals.

Once again, the Brandenburg Gate has been targeted by the Last Generation group. The western side of the monumental Berlin landmark was vandalized with orange paint.

Last Generation continues its campaign

This incident is not the first instance of the Last Generation targeting the Brandenburg Gate. On September 17, members of the group sprayed orange paint on all six columns of the monument, devastating its eastern part. Afterwards, cleaning services were employed to restore the Gate. For cleaning to be effectively carried out, scaffolding was erected on the eastern side.

Given limited access to the eastern part, activists from the Last Generation turned their attention to the western side. This time, they used paintbrushes instead of spray cans. Two individuals were captured by the police. The total estimated cost of the reparations has been pegged at around 115,000 euros (which translates to approximately $127,000).

The demonstration is intended to draw attention to Germany's reliance on oil, gas, and coal.
