Pruning oleander in the fall is essential if we want it to amaze us with its blooms during the spring and summer seasons. However, not everyone realizes the many benefits this can bring. We offer some advice on what to keep in mind.

Pruning oleander in the fall - why is it so important?

Oleanders can be an excellent decoration for the garden, but knowing how to care for them is essential. Many people are unaware that one aspect of their care involves pruning in the fall. This not only removes old, damaged shoots but also helps the plants cope better with winter weather conditions. In this way, they can be strengthened a bit.

By trimming the oleander, we can also easily give it the proper shape. Interestingly, the cut shoots root easily, allowing us to cultivate another plant in the garden.

How do you prune an oleander? It's extremely simple. Measure about 4-6 inches above where the side branches grow, and then use a well-sharpened pruner to cut off unnecessary shoots.

Is oleander poisonous?

Oleander is a beautiful plant that usually blooms from May to September. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware that it is poisonous. Caution should be exercised with all its parts, from roots to flowers, as they contain toxic substances, such as cardiac glycosides, which can cause serious health problems or even death.

This plant is extremely harmful to animals, so it is advisable not to grow it in places where they can access it.
