Lady Gaga returns to pop: New single 'disease' dazzles fans
Lady Gaga, the entire gay community thanks you for your existence—and the rest of the world should, too. Today is Friday, a day of music releases and celebration: the artist has released her first pop track since "Chromatica."

Given the saturation of the music market, a few years between albums from our favorite artists don't hurt as much. We have plenty of other stimuli to distract us from the fact that Lady Gaga last released a pop album in 2020.
However, when you start to think about it, it does hurt. Significantly since the industry's pace has accelerated, accustoming consumers to new releases every two to three years. Corporations can't afford boredom, but Ms. Lady Gaga can afford the luxury of creating according to her needs and inspiration, without the pressure of falling out of the fame cycle. More importantly, she's well aware of this, which is why she also records jazz and standards, making fans wait for a pop hit while teaching them patience.
Finally, we have it. The wait is over because Lady Gaga announced her eighth album and released the single "Disease."
Lady Gaga in her pop era again
The hype before the release was enormous. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely, yes. "Disease" will definitely appeal to old fans who discovered Gaga during her early albums. Pop has significantly changed since her debut in 2009, but it doesn't matter—she still sets the bar high and stays one step ahead.
Currently, in mainstream pop, you can feel the quality, the interplay with old hits, and the trend of picking the catchiest samples. Lady Gaga pays no mind to that, delivering a track that is dark and dangerously close to edgy. She doesn't cross that line; instead, she offers a throwback that sounds fresh and unique today. If her entire new album follows this direction, we should all thank her fiancé, who encouraged her to focus on pop.
