Kyiv radio studio rocked by explosion from dummy detonator
There was an explosion in a radio studio in the center of Kyiv. A military detonator, which was supposed to be a dummy, exploded. A 26-year-old presenter was injured and taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred on Sunday in the Pechersk district, the central area of Kyiv. Investigators and explosive experts arrived at the scene to investigate the explosion's circumstances.
According to early reports from Kyiv police, a military detonator stored in the room as an exhibit exploded, resulting in injuries to a woman born in 1999, who was subsequently hospitalized.
Ukrainian soldier Miroslav Gai provided more details about the incident. According to his account, the explosion happened around 4:50 AM Eastern Time at the Central House of Officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Condition of the injured
The presenter picked up a VP-9 detonator for anti-tank grenades and started handling it, which led to the explosion.
She was transported to the hospital with shrapnel wounds. Her condition is stable, as confirmed by Miroslav Gai. The detonator, intended to be a dummy, was brought into the studio by another soldier who had previously participated in the broadcast.
