Kyiv declares day of mourning after deadly hospital attack

In the Monday attack, 37 people were killed, including three children. Additionally, 170 people were injured, including 13 children.

The Russians attacked not only Kyiv but also Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.

In Kyiv, a rocket hit the children's hospital, the largest clinic in the country - Ochmatdyt. As a result of this attack, two people, including a doctor, were killed, and 10 were injured. Patients had to be evacuated.

Another medical facility in the capital of Ukraine was also damaged – a health center in the Dnipro district. Seven people were killed there, including three children, and 18 were injured.

"Russian terrorists must be held accountable for this. Mere concern does not stop terror... We continue our work to increase the protection of our cities and communities from Russian terror. There will be decisions. The world has the necessary strength for this," wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.

The Kyiv authorities declared a day of mourning in the city on Tuesday, July 9. "The city authorities are declaring July 9 a day of mourning in the capital in connection with the Russian terrorist attack on civilian facilities in Kyiv. On this day, flags on all municipal buildings in the city will be flown at half-mast. It is also recommended to lower state flags on public and private buildings on this day,” wrote Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the rescue operation would not be interrupted at night. Services are to work as long as necessary.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine announced "merciless revenge" for the Monday attack. "For Ukrainian children," "For Kyiv" - these are slogans that appeared on Ukrainian missiles.

"The vengeance of the Defense Forces is already underway..." wrote the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Telegram. The post was accompanied by photos from several brigades already dropping dozens of missiles on Russian forces. Kyiv promises that "revenge will be merciless."
