Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from seeking re-election electrified the world. Kremlin officials, including former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, also reacted to it. Medvedev briefly commented on the matter on Telegram.

Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

"Biden is everything... We wish him all the best. The goals of the special military operation (as the war in Ukraine is called in Russia) will be achieved," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram account.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin's spokesperson, also commented on Biden's resignation. He stated, among other things, that Putin called Biden more predictable and, therefore, the preferred candidate for the US presidency. The Kremlin spokesperson emphasized that the US elections, unlike achieving the goals of the "special operation" in Ukraine, are not Russia's priority.

Biden made a decision

Joe Biden announced on the platform X on Sunday at 6:00 PM ET that he is withdrawing his candidacy for the US presidency. He announced an address to the nation, in which he will justify his decision and declare that he will fulfill his duties until the end of his term.

On Sunday at 6:00 PM ET, Biden published a statement on the platform X, in which he wrote that Americans "have made tremendous progress as a nation over the last three and a half years."

"Today, America has the strongest economy in the world," Biden wrote. "We have made historic investments in rebuilding our nation, lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, and making affordable health care available to a record number of Americans. We provide critically needed care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances, passed the first gun safety law in 30 years, appointed the first African-American woman to the Supreme Court, and passed the most important climate legislation in the history of the world. America has never been better prepared than we are today."

Biden emphasized that "together we defeated a once-in-a-century pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We protected and preserved our democracy. We revitalized and strengthened our alliances around the world."

He added that this week he will address the nation and explain the reasons for his decision.
