Kremlin dismisses early January peace talks with Ukraine
Dmitry Peskov stated that at the beginning of January, no contacts regarding Ukraine are planned. He also commented on Slovakia's proposal.

Vladimir Putin does not intend to take any actions to resolve the Ukrainian crisis in the first days of January – this information was conveyed to journalists by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, in response to a question about potential preparations for a new phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and plans regarding other contacts concerning Ukraine.
- No, there are no such plans. Neither on January 1, 2, nor 3 – the Kremlin representative replied.
He also referred to the proposal from Slovakia. – Slovakia is not the only one. One can certainly talk about countries that take a neutral stance and conduct equal dialogue with both Kyiv and Moscow. There are quite a few such countries – he stated in response to a question about which country could host such negotiations.
Slovakia's proposal
Let's recall that on Thursday, Vladimir Putin announced that Slovakia is ready to host negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and Moscow is not opposed to organizing such talks. According to Putin, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during his recent visit to Moscow, expressed readiness to offer his country's territory as a platform for talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
This information was confirmed by the Slovak foreign minister overnight from Thursday to Friday.
