Kremlin acknowledges Ukraine's EU right amid US‑Russia talks
As reported by Reuters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Ukraine has the sovereign right to join the European Union.
On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed the opinion that Ukraine has every right to integrate with the European Union.
"We are talking about integration and economic integration processes. And here, of course, no one can dictate anything to any country, and we are not going to do that," emphasized Peskov, as quoted by Reuters.
However, Peskov added that Russia's position differs on issues related to security and military alliances. He emphasized, "There is a completely different position, of course, on security-related issues related to defence or military alliances."
U.S.-Russia talks
During the U.S.-Russia talks, which took place on Tuesday morning in Saudi Arabia, details about a possible meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have not yet been established.
The meeting in the capital of Saudi Arabia marks the first opportunity for discussions between U.S. and Russian delegations since the start of the war in Ukraine. According to the Polish Press Agency, the main goal is to rebuild bilateral relations and prepare for possible peace talks regarding Ukraine.
The delegations are led by the diplomacy heads of both countries: Marco Rubio from the U.S. and Sergey Lavrov from Russia. The American delegation also includes National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff. Presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov and Sergey Lavrov, the head of Russian diplomacy represent Russia.
