King Charles cuts Prince Andrew's royal funds amid scandal
According to British media sources citing an upcoming biography of the monarch, King Charles III has decided to cut Prince Andrew off from royal funds. Prince Andrew's financial issues have been speculated on for years, but pressure on the royal family intensified when the king's brother's connection to Jeffrey Epstein was revealed.
A biography of King Charles by Robert Hardman will be released on November 7th. However, the British "Daily Mail" has already begun publishing it in installments.
According to the author, who cites reliable sources, King Charles ultimately decided to end financial support for Prince Andrew, including expenses such as his security costs.
The BBC notes that the king's brother may face significant challenges maintaining the Royal Lodge estate in Windsor. The house was leased to Prince Andrew in 2003, and the maintenance costs are estimated at $528,000 annually.
Andrew has reportedly been asked multiple times to move to a smaller property, Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and his wife lived for several years. However, the king's brother is said to have declined these suggestions.
Epstein affair
Buckingham Palace has not commented on these revelations. However, the media reminds us that the pressure to cut Prince Andrew from royal finances increased after the infamous 2019 interview. The Duke of York addressed his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the American billionaire accused of sexual offenses.
A member of the royal family was accused by one of the victims of sexual assault, among other allegations. Additionally, commentators criticized Andrew for completely ignoring the victims of the millionaire.
As a result, in 2020, Andrew withdrew from public appearances.
