The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, announced on Monday the intention to further strengthen cooperation with Russia. In a message sent to President Vladimir Putin, Kim emphasized the importance of "comprehensive strategic cooperation" between the two countries. This information was provided by the North Korean news agency KCNA.

Kim Jong Un sent New Year's greetings to Putin and all Russians, including Russian soldiers. He expressed his readiness to further strengthen bilateral ties, which, as he noted, have been elevated to a new level this year.

The North Korean leader wished for the year 2025 to go down in history as the first in the 21st century in which "the Russian army and people will defeat neo-Nazism and achieve a great victory."

Military cooperation

In June of this year, Kim and Putin signed a mutual defense pact. This document stipulates that each side will aid the other in case of armed aggression. North Korea has already sent tens of thousands of soldiers to Russia, who are fighting in the Kursk region against Ukrainian forces.

According to information from Seoul and Washington, at least 1,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured.
