Why is North Korea supporting Russia?

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, emphasized that his country's involvement in the Ukraine conflict aligns with North Korea's sovereign rights.

According to the KCNA agency, Kim described it as the defense of a "brotherly nation." "I consider all the brave soldiers who participated in the Kursk operation as heroes and the foremost defenders of our nation's honor," added the dictator.

What are the consequences for relations with the USA?

Kim Jong Un warned that North Korea will not hesitate to use military force if the United States continues what he described as military provocations against Russia.

North Korea officially confirmed at the end of last month that it has sent over 10,000 soldiers and weapons to Russia because "military ties between both countries have grown under a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty, signed by Kim and President Vladimir Putin of Russia last year."
