Ken Block's Subaru Impreza is up for auction. A rally masterpiece
This notable symbol of motorsport was utilized by Ken Block in the X Games, a fact attested to by...a signature in the service book. Now, it's up for grabs for someone with deep pockets. It's certainly not a low-budget purchase.
Even though Ken Block has departed from the race track for almost a year now, his legend continues to thrive. As a revered figure in motorsport, he left an enormous legacy - from his accomplishments and a dedicated fan base following his every move, to the iconic Gymkhana story that resonates in many circles.
So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the auction, which surfaced on the Bring A Trailer portal, has become quite a sensation. Up for bidding is a stunning Subaru Impreza, which belonged to Block for several years.
This specific model was utilized by Ken, along with co-driver Alex Gelsomino, at various events in the X Games series. In 2009, it was sold to Mark Fox, who kept its rally legacy alive.
Brought into existence in 2004, this model was transformed into a full-fledged rally car two years later. Under its hood is a 2.0 R4 turbocharged engine, equipped with four-wheel drive, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential on both the front and rear axles.
Other noteworthy features include a Cusco suspension set-up, Coralba Giant rally computer, full safety cage, Recaro seats, and even... a service book signed by Ken Block. All of these are accented by the iconic PIAA lamps and classic Monster Energy wrap. Naturally, the car bears the iconic motorsport number 43, which was closely associated with Block.
The auction is set to conclude on December 19th, 2023, and the final bid could be staggering. At the time of writing this article, the highest offer stands precisely at $46,000 (around $185,000 when adjusted for currency conversion). It's safe to anticipate that this price will continue to climb over the following days.
