If you pick a tree that's not in the best condition, it will be challenging to maintain its longevity. That's why you should pay attention to needle density and color when shopping. Deep green needles indicate the plant's health and freshness. Ensure the trunk is straight and undamaged, as this ensures better water absorption.

How to care for a live Christmas tree at home?

To prevent the Christmas tree from losing its needles, it's crucial to place it in the right spot. It should be away from heat sources, as hot air causes the needles to dry out quickly, accelerating their dropping. The ideal place for the tree is in a cooler corner of the room, near a window with good light access. Additionally, it's helpful to regularly ventilate the room where the tree is located. Fresh air positively affects plants, including those in pots. This will make the tree healthier and more resistant to moisture loss.

Water with salt for watering the tree

The Christmas tree, like any living plant, requires regular watering. However, water alone isn't enough to keep the needles green and prevent them from falling. The best additives for the water can be found in the kitchen cabinet. The first is sugar, which provides the tree with energy. The second is salt. A mix of water and salt greatly benefits the tree's condition.

Remember to water it with room-temperature water—cold water is not as beneficial. The trunk absorbs warm water much better. Also, ensure the tree stand is continuously filled with water, as a lack of moisture is the main cause of needle drying. You need to replenish the water about every two days. Check regularly to make sure the stand is not empty.

Important!

How to prepare a watering mixture for the tree? Simply dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a quart of warm water. Mix well so the crystals dissolve.
