Keep your Christmas tree fresh longer with these simple tips
Some people have already started searching for the perfect Christmas tree. Once we choose a tree, it's important to ensure it lasts as long as possible at home. Fortunately, it's easier than it seems.
The Christmas tree is undoubtedly a symbol of the holiday season. Both children and adults love it, and decorating it brings immense joy to everyone. Unsurprisingly, it appears in many homes as early as the beginning of December. What can you do to enjoy it for several weeks? Let's find out.
Trim your tree. You'll thank yourself later
Remember that it may have been cut a few weeks earlier when purchasing a tree. Unfortunately, this can mean it won't last as long as we'd like it to at home. Luckily, there's a simple way to fix this.
You just need to trim the trunk a bit before placing it in the stand. Next, make two or three holes in the trunk, spaced evenly apart. A drill with a thick bit will be helpful for this. Ensure the holes are about 2 inches deep to help the tree absorb water better.
Finally, pour water into the stand and place the tree in your chosen spot. However, it's crucial to remember to water it regularly.
The mixture that strengthens the needles
Sometimes, the Christmas tree we choose loses its needles alarmingly. There is a way to address this, too, using products you probably have at home.
Dissolve 1 tablespoon of sugar in 2 cups of water. Simply water the tree with this mixture, and you're done. Sugar contains many nutrients that will strengthen the tree. The location of the tree also matters. Christmas trees don't like high temperatures, so it's better not to place them near a radiator.
