The kamikaze drone assault on the refinery, situated in Volgograd's Krasnoarmeysky district, occurred at approximately 5 a.m. local time. The attack resulted in an oil leak and triggered a massive fire that expanded over approximately 3229 square feet.

Russians managed to contain the disaster nearly three hours later. Russian authorities stated that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.

Videos showcasing the drone strike surfaced online several hours later.

Additionally, videos capturing the resulting fire were also made available online.

The Governor of the Volgograd region asserted that the refinery fire was a result of a drone being downed by air defense.

Established in 1962 and significantly expanded in 2022, the Volgograd refinery is Lukoil company's second-largest facility of its kind.
