Kamala Harris's campaign shatters records with $1B in 80 days
The campaign team of Vice President Kamala Harris has raised over $1 billion for her election campaign in just 80 days. This is likely the first time a presidential candidate has garnered such a large amount in such a short period, as reported by the "New York Times" on Wednesday.
The "New York Times," citing three sources familiar with the campaign's financial details, notes that the amount raised by Harris's team does not include funds collected by the so-called super PACs supporting the candidate.
A super PAC is a political action committee that does not give money directly to a candidate's campaign team but funds activities to support the campaign.
In 2024, Donald Trump raised around $853 million. As reported by the "NYT," the Democratic team is concerned about the significant sums being raised by super PACs supporting the Republican candidate.
Harris was officially announced as the Democratic candidate on July 21, and in the first week, her campaign team raised $200 million.
Elon Musk supports Trump
According to the Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk has announced that he will contribute about $45 million per month to his new super PAC supporting Trump. Fox News reports that the billionaire is offering a high hourly rate—$30—plus additional bonuses for individuals involved in mobilizing Republican voters.
