Kamala Harris gains momentum in key swing states over Trump

According to the latest survey by the Morning Consult Center for Bloomberg News, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in four out of seven key U.S. states crucial for the presidential elections. Kamala Harris is performing better than expected, indicating a new beginning in the Democrats' election campaign.

According to the latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult survey, Vice President Kamala Harris has an advantage over Donald Trump in the race for the U.S. presidency. She leads 48% to 47%.

The survey was conducted online from July 24-28, following Joe Biden's decision not to run. Compared to the survey in early July, when Trump was ahead of Biden by 2 percentage points and led in five of the seven so-called swing states, this is a significant positive shift for the Democratic candidate. Harris has an 11-point advantage over Trump in Michigan and a 2-point advantage in Nevada, Arizona, and Wisconsin. Trump leads her by 4 percentage points in Pennsylvania and 2 percentage points in North Carolina. Both candidates have equal support in Georgia.

It is evident that this is a new beginning in the Democrats' election campaign after Joe Biden withdrew, and Kamala Harris became the natural successor. If the Democrats can skillfully leverage this and clearly outline the lines of division, it could motivate pro-Democratic voters.

It concerns voters who oppose Donald Trump's recent statements. He urged 'beloved Christians to vote for him so they wouldn't have to vote in any more elections.' Such statements are perceived as a threat to democracy. Kamala Harris is a counterbalance to this anti-democratic message and a contrast to Trump. This gives hope to those Democrats who have already lost hope.

In his view, a repeat of the Barack Obama effect from 2008 may occur in the current situation.

A coalition involving pop culture stars, African Americans, Latinos, and young people could be renewed. Joe Biden lost some of these voters, and some simply lost motivation. If the Democrats can maintain this positive trend by selecting the appropriate vice-presidential candidate, organizing a good convention, and winning the debate against Trump, they can win in November.
