Kamala Harris gains ground on Donald Trump in key battleground states

Kamala Harris is nearing Donald Trump in terms of support in several key states where voters are undecided on whom to vote for. According to a survey published by The New York Times/Siena College on Saturday, the Democrat leads in Arizona (50 to 45 percent) and North Carolina (49 to 47 percent).

In Nevada and Georgia, Vice President Harris has largely closed the gap between President Joe Biden (before he withdrew from the race for the White House) and Trump. Trump's lead over the Democrat is currently 48 to 47 percent in Nevada and 50 to 46 percent in Georgia.

According to the survey, the average of these four southern states shows that candidates for the highest office in America have approximately 48 percent support.

The portal "The Hill" argues that winning at least one of the aforementioned states and securing victory in all three remaining undecided electorates - Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania - will likely be enough to win the presidency.

Democrats have reasons to be happy

A separate New York Times/Siena survey from the beginning of the month showed that Harris leads Trump by at least four percentage points in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Before Biden's withdrawal, the former president led Trump by a margin of 3 percent in the three undecided states.

Saturday's survey illustrates a significant improvement for Democrats compared to a similar survey conducted in May, where Trump had a lead over Biden of 50 to 41 percent in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada.

Polls analyzed by Hill/Decision Desk HQ indicate that Trump leads Harris by 1.8 percentage points – 49 to 47.2 percent.
