Kamala Harris faces backlash over alleged fake phone call
Republicans have accused Kamala Harris of staging a fake phone conversation during her campaign event on election night, according to Newsweek. Videos circulating online have captured everyone's attention due to a noticeable detail on the phone screen. "Unbelievable," commented Donald Trump's son.
The recording shows Harris holding a phone to her ear. At one point, the smiling Democratic Party candidate reveals the screen to her supporters. The issue is that the camera app is open on the phone at that time. Republicans quickly highlighted this, suggesting that Kamala Harris wasn't actually on a phone call.
Today, Kamala Harris pretended like she was on the phone with a voter. She flipped the phone around and you can clearly see she is faking the call because the camera app is open. All she does is LIE. How embarrassing - stated conservative activist Laura Loomer.
Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son, briefly added his comment: "Unreal!"
American media have also covered the issue. The Newsweek portal reached out to Kamala Harris's campaign team to inquire whether the Democratic candidate was truly on a call. So far, they have not received a response.
US elections: Who won?
The vote count in the US is ongoing, but everything points to a victory for Donald Trump. According to the Associated Press, Trump secured 248 electoral votes, while Harris received 214. CNN and Reuters are also projecting a win for the Republican Party candidate.
Due to the anticipated loss, Kamala Harris's campaign team announced that the Democratic candidate would not give a speech on election night. Cedric Richmond, co-chair of Harris's campaign, shared that Harris will address her supporters on Wednesday morning local time (afternoon Eastern Time).
