Kamala Harris's conversation was overheard during her visit to Kalamazoo, Michigan, in a meeting with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
At the Trak Houz Bar and Grill in Kalamazoo, Kamala Harris told Gretchen Whitmer, "We need to move ground among men."
Shortly after, she realized their conversation was being recorded. "Oh, we have microphones in here listening to everything. I didn’t realize that!" she said, surprised.
A recording of this moment quickly circulated on social media. Many speculated that the situation was staged, considering both politicians had microphones attached to their clothes, with cameras and reporters nearby.
The Harris campaign spokesperson did not comment on the matter.
Male support: a key issue for Harris's campaign
Regardless of the intent, gaining support among men is crucial for Harris's campaign. As the NY Post reported in the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, former President Donald Trump leads among male voters, receiving 55% support compared to Harris's 41%. Harris holds an advantage among women, securing 54% of the vote, while Trump has 42%.
Last week, Harris downplayed these results in a conversation with NBC, asserting that she is focused on winning votes from all Americans.
However, according to observers, this situation poses a challenge for Harris's campaign, as gaining the trust of male voters could be crucial in the battle for the White House.
