23-year-old Emonte Morgan from Chicago has been convicted of murdering Officer Ella French and wounding Officer Carlos Yanez Jr. during a traffic stop in the city's south side - reports ABC News.

On Tuesday, a man was convicted of fatally shooting a Chicago police officer, injuring her partner, and shooting at a third officer in August 2021.

According to Fox News, after less than two hours of deliberation, the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, the attempted murder of a peace officer, and illegal firearm possession and use by a felon.

French, aged 29, was killed and Yanez injured following their stop of an SUV with expired tags. Eric Morgan, the brother of Morgan, admitted guilt in October to aggravated unlawful weapon use, battery, and obstructing justice charges.

Additionally, Jamel Danzy from Hammond, Indiana, received a 2.5-year prison sentence last December after confessing to a federal firearms violation related to conducting an illicit straw purchase of the firearm that was used in French's murder.
