In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry confirmed that they have recalled their ambassador from Israel.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi mentioned that this move is a "symbol of Jordan's strong objection and condemnation towards the Israeli wartime activities in Gaza". The statement also indicated that Rogel Rahman, the Israeli ambassador who is presently not in Jordan, is considered 'unwelcome'.

As per the statement, the return of the ambassador will depend on "Israel halting the war in Gaza, alleviating the ensuing humanitarian crisis, and ceasing actions that deny Palestinians their essential rights. This includes access to resources like food, water, and medicine, along with the opportunity to live safely and stably on their own land".

Bolivia severs diplomatic relations with Israel

On Tuesday, the Bolivian government announced that it was severing diplomatic ties with Israel. This declaration was made at a press conference by the Bolivian Foreign Ministry.

The Bolivian authorities cited "crimes against humanity" being committed by Israel in the Gaza strip as the reason for this drastic action.

The Reuters agency recollects the historical precedence of this move. Bolivia had previously severed diplomatic relations with Israel in 2009 under the rule of Evo Morales. This was in protest against Israeli attacks on the Gaza strip. In 2020, under President Jeanine Anez, diplomatic relations were restored.
