John Stamos' painful confession. He was sexually harassed as a child
On October 24, John Stamos' memoirs "If You Would Have Told Me" will be published. In settling accounts with his life, the actor recalled a painful experience from his childhood. He was 10 years old when he became a victim of sexual harassment.
In August of this year, John Stamos turned 60 years old. Fans remember him for his role as Uncle Jesse in the series "Full House," as well as his relationship with model and actress Rebecca Romijn. In the late 90s, they were one of the hottest couples in American show business. The history of the actor's first marriage is one of the main themes of his autobiography, "If You Would Have Told Me."
In the book, Stamos decided to also describe his traumatic experience from the past. At the age of 10, he was sexually abused by his caregiver.
- I was trying to play dead at that time, just so she would stop. She wasn't acting aggressive, but it was bad. No child should go through something like that - he said in an interview with "People".
The celebrity didn't confide in anyone about what happened to him.
- This story has always stuck with me, but I buried it very deeply. I even tried to trivialize it. I told myself: "Oh, those girls, man" - confessed the actor.
For the first time, John Stamos confronted his past after nearly half a century, writing a book.
- Only now did I fully realize how improper and harmful what I experienced was," the author of "If You Would Have Told Me" stated.
