Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years
Just two years after their wedding, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce. The singer personally submitted the documents at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on the afternoon of August 20.
Rumors that had been circulating for many months have now been confirmed. On August 20, Jennifer Lopez personally filed the divorce papers. According to TMZ, which was the first to report the news, Lopez filed pro per, meaning she did so personally and without the help of a lawyer.
Tuesday also marked two years since the couple's lavish wedding ceremony in Georgia, which took place shortly after they solidified their union in Las Vegas in July 2022. Lopez listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024. The divorce papers reached the Los Angeles County Superior Court just a week after the star visited Affleck at his home on the actor's birthday.

In her filing, Lopez did not indicate whether she and the actor had a prenuptial agreement, though sources suggest they do not. She chose to waive spousal support from Affleck and asked the judge to also deny Ben Affleck such support.
According to the portal, the Oscar winner was seen moving into a house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, about a 30-minute drive from the Beverly Hills estate. He was repeatedly photographed visiting their $68 million villa in Lopez's absence to remove all of his belongings and transport them to a rental property where he now lives alone. Observant fans noticed at that time that the couple hadn’t been photographed together for over a month and a half.

As their marriage ended, Ben was regularly seen with his ex-wife and their three children, with whom he grew closer during his breakup with Lopez. Jennifer also sought comfort from her children, twins Max and Elle, with whom she now spends every free moment.
One exception was the star's solo trip to Europe at the end of June and the beginning of July. After visiting Sicily, where she sailed on a private yacht, the 55-year-old also attended Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, including a Dior show.
According to Page Six, the ambitious singer now wants to focus on her work and is fervently planning a return to the top in 2025. Lopez is also looking for a new property where bad memories associated with her soon-to-be ex-husband won't linger.
