Each year, the event's theme aligns with opening a new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. For 2024, the theme is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," showcasing 50 designs encapsulating 400 years of fashion history.

At Anna Wintour's request, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth hosted the ceremonial gala. Despite Zendaya presenting two dramatic looks, Jennifer Lopez undeniably captured the spotlight. She graced the beige-green carpet in a "naked" dress, proving that this daring trend is far from over.

The "naked" dress trend was thought to be diminishing, but Jennifer Lopez proved otherwise. She demonstrated that sheer elegance and subtlety perfectly match, seamlessly blending.

The dress, intricately adorned with approximately two and a half million shining beads imitating roots and branches, required about 800 hours of meticulous manual embroidery. Fitting snugly at the hips, it featured an innovative neckline and a trailing train. The ensemble comprised beige, velvet peep-toe platform shoes and a matching clutch.

The highlight of J.Lo's ensemble was her jewellery from Tiffany's, particularly a necklace with a wing motif featuring a 20-carat diamond.
