Jenna Ortega, the 21-year-old star of the series "Wednesday," has denied rumors that she is in a "serious relationship" with 61-year-old Johnny Depp. In an interview with BuzzFeed, Ortega called the idea "insane." "It's so insane to me. Like, I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that," Ortega responded to the speculations.
The rumors surfaced in August 2023. It was first suggested that Ortega and Depp were working together on the movie "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." It quickly escalated from work to romance. The issue is that the actors never met on set.
Depp's spokesperson also strongly denied the rumors. "Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career" read the official statement.
Until recently, Ortega was rather reluctant to share details of her private life. Only last year did she tell Elle magazine that she is happily single. Depp, according to the latest reports, is dating 28-year-old Russian model Yulia Vlasova.
Ortega in "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice"
Jenna Ortega will be starring in the sequel to "Beetlejuice," where she will play Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) from the original 1988 film. Director Tim Burton, who has worked with Depp numerous times, spoke highly of Ortega, calling her "one of the most aware" actresses in the industry. He also highlighted her experience in horror films. Despite earlier speculations, Depp will not appear in the upcoming "Beetlejuice" sequel.
