At Muan Airport in South Korea, a Jeju Air plane crash occurred, which, according to the South Korean Ministry of Transport, is the most tragic air accident in the country in almost thirty years. There were 181 people on board, including two from Thailand, while the rest were South Korean citizens. The toll was 151 fatalities. The incident was reported by the Reuters agency.
Lee Jung-hyun, the head of the Muan fire department, stated that various possible causes of the crash are being investigated, including birds and weather conditions. According to the Yonhap agency, it is suspected that a collision with a bird caused the landing gear malfunction. There were also reports that one of the passengers informed a relative about a bird getting stuck in the plane's wing.
