Jared Leto, a true Renaissance man, juggles multiple roles with aplomb. Apart from being a part of the band Thirty Seconds To Mars, Leto enjoys a successful acting career. He's become a regular presence in box office hits and a popular figure in the fashion world. This time around, he can add a new historic achievement to his list of successes.
Jared Leto's Historic Achievement
On November 9, Leto achieved the historic feat of being the first person to legally climb the renowned Empire State Building in New York. This iconic skyscraper stands proud at 1,420 ft (including the radio tower on top). For comparison, the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland, is "only" 777 feet tall.
Leto has long harboured the dream of scaling this iconic edifice. He accomplished it despite admitting the difficulty of the task.
Truth be told, I was more excited than nervous. But I must be honest, this was very, very hard. Much harder than I thought, he revealed in an interview with Today.com, shortly after the climb.
The undertaking was not without some minor injuries. Leto, at 51, sustained a cut on his left arm during the climb. This, however, did not deter him from successfully completing the mission.

But why did he do it? The aim was to generate buzz for his band’s upcoming tour. Beyond that, Leto confessed, the task held symbolic meaning for him.
It's amazing. Watching the sunrise over the city was incredibly meaningful for me. Since childhood, New York has symbolized a place where I could fulfill my dreams, he explained.
For clarity, Leto didn’t start from street level and climb to the very top. He ascended the east face of the building between the 86th and 104th floors. It took him about 20 minutes to reach a point nearly 1,312 feet high.
Did you foresee Leto possessing such skills?
