Jared Leto cast as Skeletor in star-packed He‑Man movie
The Oscar winner will be He-Man's main adversary in the upcoming movie adaptation of the cult animated series. He has joined the star-studded cast.
Jared Leto has been cast as Skeletor in the upcoming live-action adaptation of He-Man's Adventures. The Oscar-winning actor, known for his roles in "House of Gucci" and "Dallas Buyers Club," will portray He-Man/Prince Adam's arch-nemesis. He will act alongside Nicholas Galitzine, who is set to play He-Man. Director Travis Knight, known for "Bumblebee," has assembled an impressive cast, including Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops. Also joining them are Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms.
Jared Leto to play Skeletor in "Masters of the Universe"
Not everyone knows that the He-Man franchise began in 1982 with Mattel's action figures, accompanied by mini-comics. The animated series "He-Man, the Masters of the Universe" started airing a year later. This fantasy universe is expected to include many characters, with Skeletor, played by Leto, being heavily "enhanced" with CGI and motion capture. This approach will contrast with the 1987 live-action adaptation, where Frank Langella played Skeletor using traditional makeup.
Jared Leto enjoys playing villains
The role of Skeletor will be another foray into villainy for Jared Leto. His trend in playing stylized villains began with the Joker in "Suicide Squad" (2016), continued with the character of a CEO in "Blade Runner 2049" (2017), and most recently, the anti-hero Morbius in 2022. The actor is also set to lead in Disney's "Tron: Ares," featuring Evan Peters and Greta Lee.
"Masters of the Universe" is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films. The film's premiere is scheduled for June 5, 2026. Although full details of the plot and production are still being kept under wraps, fans can anticipate an exciting and visually stunning version of the iconic characters and the full power of Castle Grayskull.
