Drying machines take up a lot of free space, which can be problematic for people living in small apartments. Also, wet clothes increase the humidity in rooms, which can result in foggy windows and eventually even mold formation in the house.

The worst part of it all, however, is that clothing items that take a long time to dry at home can start to smell bad and no longer stay fresh, even though they've just been washed. How can we deal with all these problems? Clever drying methods come to the rescue.

How to properly dry laundry? The temperature is important

You should absolutely not dry laundry directly on a radiator. Not only is it inefficient, as only a few pieces of clothing will fit on the tiny heater, but intense evaporation can further increase the humidity level in the apartment.

Additionally, clothes dried under such conditions will shrink faster, and the material - especially delicate ones - can get damaged. Drying wet laundry on a radiator can also cause rust, which in turn stains the fabric. The most suitable temperature for drying clothes is room temperature, which is around 68 degrees F.

Wet laundry requires a well-ventilated place

In order for laundry to dry well and quickly, it's worth setting up the dryer in a breezy location, where air circulation will effectively support the entire process. On one hand, drying will take significantly less time, and on the other hand, clothes will smell more pleasant. For the same reason, it's best to set up the dryer far away from the kitchen, as intense odors can penetrate the clothes.

The best place will be the hallway or the most spacious room in the house. Only such spaces can provide adequate air circulation, which will help dry the laundry.

Try a clever trick - the Japanese method of drying

Another patent to accelerate the process of drying laundry comes from Japan. It is based on a thoughtful arrangement in which wet laundry is hung on a dryer. In this way, drying can be significantly accelerated. This method is very simple, it is about hanging the largest clothes on the outer ends of the dryer, and the smallest in the center.

Thanks to this, the laundry does not stick to itself, and larger gaps between pieces of clothing allow for airflow, which effectively dries them. It's really worth switching to the Japanese method from now on.
