The singer, who had been performing for four decades, canceled her last holiday performance, citing health issues.

"Unfortunate Accident"

Miho Nakayama, a well-known Japanese singer and actress, suddenly passed away in her apartment in Tokyo. The SCMP portal reported that on December 6, the artist was found dead in the bathtub. She was 54 years old.

Her official website states that the cause of death was "an unfortunate accident that occurred during a bath". An autopsy was performed. The police do not suspect any foul play.

Nakayama's death is a significant loss to Japanese culture. The director Shunji Iwai, who worked with her on the film "Love Letter", bid farewell to his colleague in moving words.

With so many emotions swirling inside – frustration, deep regret... I am yet unable to give formal words of remembrance... Tonight, though only in spirit, I wish to be by your side, he wrote.

After the artist's death, her management team also released a statement.

This incident was so sudden that we, too, are shocked and saddened, they wrote.
