Cleaning the grates of a gas stove can be a challenge, but there are proven methods to make this task easier. Here are some practical ways to help keep your stove in perfect condition.

Five minutes and it's done

What does the Japanese method of cleaning the gas stove grate involve? All you need are paper towels, a sponge, oil, and hot water. Apply oil to the sponge, then rub it onto the cast iron parts of the stove. Next, cover the grate with paper towels previously soaked in hot water. Leave the grate for five minutes. After that, simply wipe the cast iron parts with a rough sponge, and then dry everything. Greasy residues will disappear.

How else can you approach cleaning this part of the stove? A paste made from baking soda is equally effective. Simply mix it with water and apply it to the soiled areas. After waiting about 40 minutes, the dirt will start coming off on its own—just rinse the grate with warm water.

Another method is to use white vinegar. Mix vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio and spray it on the grate. After 15 minutes, wipe it with a damp cloth. Vinegar not only removes dirt but also neutralizes unpleasant odors, which is an additional advantage of this method.

How do you clean the glass or enamel surface of the stove? Water with lemon juice or dishwashing liquid can help. Both substances can effectively dissolve all types of dirt. Meanwhile, clean gas burners with a mixture of warm water and vinegar.
